SEGY, SeisX, SeisWare, SeisCap March 2, 2010
This Web site is dedicated to the Workstation SEGY format and to Seismic Data encapsulation. It contains numerous tips and tricks. Some people will call these work arounds. The text is full of unix awk and perl scripts to perform a variety of tasks beyond what is offered in the SeisX or SeisWare software. Pssssst.... I will even show you how to run BP's usp to add some additional processing capability. You can find out how to run Spectral Decomposition for free! Or how about an fxdecon to clean up your data. While these pages are fairly complete, all data contained but are constantly being corrected and updated. If you have questions concerning any of these pages, please contact the author, Eric Keyser.
- May 8, 2010 - Do you want to transcribe your CD/DVD library to online disk storage at the lowest possible price? Arnica Resources is able to copy cd/dvd's at $3 per disk plus $1 per gigabyte of data. Just follow this link
- March 2, 2010 - SEGP-2010 or UKooa 2010 survey proposal, a few ideas on how to make a self defining format and to provide for the flexibility in the future
- July 7, 2008 - SEG-Z proposal, focusing on how to describe our Seismic Data Exchange Format, an update on SEGY.
- Proposed SEGY rev(2) standard, This simplified SEGY definition will contain only those items that can be agreed upon:
In order to give every company the flexibility they desire, it is proposed we use two signature bytes (399,400 of binary header) to uniquely identify the specified format.
- The byte structure, 3200 bytes for Textual Description, 400 bytes for line based information and 240 bytes for traced based information.
- The Sample Interval, Bytes 17-18, Binary16
- The Number of samples, Bytes 21-22, Binary16
- Proposed SeisCap Seismic Encapsulation standard. Read about it. The latest in seismic encapsulation software. The next step beyond Kelman's KQ standard or Seitel's SUOF encapsulation. It's more flexible than RODE and best of all it's FREE. All software has been placed in the public domain.
