Some Workstation SEGY data examples

January 31- 2006 : I have now updated examples of the Workstation SEGY format with filled out data for Central Meridian, EPSG survey code, survey datum and survey grid. Note: that the format code is now a 6, this may cause your software to burp if you are not careful. Here's the data:

• 2D data example format code of 6 D198358.ECOG-ECC-041D-0P9.u-gth.200304.cgg.gif right mouse click and save the following segy file D198358.ECOG-ECC-041D-0P9.u-gth.200304.cgg.sgy
• 2D data example format code of 1 F101692.ECC-NWT-2003-25.f-pr-fk-pr-mig.200304.gox.gif right mouse click and save the following segy file F101692.ECC-NWT-2003-25.f-pr-fk-pr-mig.200304.gox.sgy
• 3D data example format code of 1 P173286.ECC-MERG-033DM-1.3D-JENSEN.test-istk.200302.gox.gif right mouse click and save the following segy file P173286.ECC-MERG-033DM-1.3D-JENSEN.test-istk.200302.gox.sgy

Here is the SeisX format file that I used to display the above data. It's just a flat file. The format file for the gathers is here Here are some data files you can inspect to see what the EnCana Workstation segy format really looks like. Note that the headers are all real data, the trace samples are fake and there are not very many of them.

• Here are some examples of the text files that are associated with the segy files:

  • 3D line P172685.BURNT_MALLIK_M3D.f-na-po-mig.102003.ver.sgy.txt
• 3D gathers, click D198358.ECOG-ECC-041D-0P9.u-gth.200304.cgg.sgy to see an example that came from CGG. This file uses the format code of 6. Click D198358.ECOG-ECC-041D-0P9.u-gth.200304.cgg.sgy to see the same file with a format code of 1. (it's wrong but this is what most software wants to see)
• 2D data set, click F101692.ECC-NWT-2003-25.f-pr-fk-pr-mig.200304.gox.sgy to see an example from GEOX
• 3D stack data, click P173286.ECC-MERG-033DM-1.3D-JENSEN.test-istk.200302.gox.sgy
• Here is an example with 8bit data. (Format code of 5) Click P173286.ECC-MERG-033DM-1.3D-JENSEN.test-istk.200302.8bit.sgy Can you read it? Or does your software think this is 32bit data?
