User SeisX Enhancement Requests, Mar 31, 2004

It is recommended that the SeisX users in Calgary organize a SeisX UNIX User meeting two months after the official release of SeisX 4.0. SeisX User Demands (bug fixes and product enhancements) will be discussed.

Here is a list of possible enhancements for your consideration:

• Culture
  1. Transparent Polygon overlays.
  2. Import Arcview shape files (I do have a perl script for this function)
  3. One line generalized ASCII import
  4. Utilize the Arcview shape file format
  5. Provide a background for a geo rectified tiff picture file
• Grid and Contour
  1. Provide the thick option for contour labels
• Data manipulation
  1. Propagator Trace based horizon picking
  2. Time slice picking, why doesn't the guide function work?
  3. Time Slice fault picking
  4. Dynamic Range Adjustment dependant on Zoom area
  5. Submit time consuming operations to batch (multiple CPU processing)
     • Loading large 3D's, it may take several hours to load a large 3D
     • Cube creation
  6. Save different misie files under a user defined misstie file name (jf)
  7. Log editing (erase spikes on the sonic)
  8. Simple reserves determination from areas. Equation for oil and for gas.
  9. Re project data from one Zone to another
  10. Edit and change the EBCDIC header
• Data Display
  1. Order 3D's for data display.
  2. Select seismic across multiple 3D's without having to select the active 3D.
  3. Place any of the following across the top of the seismic display, elevation, total static and fold
  4. Provide cross plot capabilities for two seismic volumes
  5. Combination plot, Provide a slider bar to dynamically shift the numbers on one plot relative to the other.
  6. Provide simplified 3D visualization (surfaces, fault patterns)
  7. User adjustable window positions
  8. EBCDIC header display from Seismic Display, Project Statistics, Line Information and Hard copy plot
  9. Hold and drag a polygon of seismic (fault interpretation) with refresh on (slower) or off (jf)
  10. Hot keys to toggle seismic on and off (Control s?).
  11. Add commonly used well symbols (oil, gas shows) , we require a 1/4 of a solid circle to build symbol for wells with oil shows
• Data Import
  1. Any trace header byte location can be converted into a seismic horizon (elevation, statics)
  2. Direct import from Accumap for well spots, well ticket information and culture
  3. Culture can be input from Latitude, Longitude
  4. Import ukooa navigation file either from either XY's or Latitude Longitude.
  5. Data validation, verify the integrity of a SeisX project. Have a checker that can send details to Paradigm.
• Data Export
  1. Limit segy output by polygon for 2D and 3D. (eg desire to sell a few sections of 3D)
  2. Export header words (scaled) as horizon.
  3. Plot directly to the plotter generating Hewlett Packard rtl code
• Defaults
  1. Should change defaults to Use Scale for Hardcopy and Zoom set to current line name to better identify seismic data
• Hardware
  1. Maximize the use of dual processors
  2. Support three screens as a single virtual monitor
