15 - SeisX Wish List
Performance
- Two Gig plus file handling
- Improved handling of large 2D and 3D projects
- Pre Rasterize Seismic Display
- Data compression on the fly. Some of the off shore data sets are as large as 30 gig and further compression from eight bit would be desirable.
- On NT machine have different color pallets for each screen
- Single button press to save tops
- Port SeisX to Linux
Data Management
- Project list items can be displayed and edited. This enables a project to be copied and all seismic line name pointers easily updated
- Need a search string option in the delete well window (for wells in exactly the same position)(Hillar)
- Need an export grid to ASCII format option (Hillar)
- Provide the ability to edit the EBCDIC seismic line header
- Append information to the File description string. This will preserve some of the previous steps. Increase the length of this field to say 240 bytes.
- Save process seismic data flow to be used again
- Allow for a list of criteria expresions so that a number of them can be chosen at any one time - ie. a check list. (Hillar)
- Add the ability to specify the file name when loading 2D from disk (Hillar)
- Add ability to set an automatic clip value as a percent when loading. (Hillar)
- Add a search by UWI option on the Tdmodule window (Hillar)
- Add the ability to change the process version number when loading (Hillar)
- Need a search string option in all of the well attributes windows (Hillar)
- For map based well selection need an option to choose from list of wells when more than one well lies in the same geographical position. (Hillar)
- For loading from disk need the option to specify output line name and path (Hillar)
- An enhancement for the horizon computations box would be to allow for scientific notation so that typing long decimals can be avoided ie. allow 945e-9 rather than .000000945.(Hillar)
- In the processing-process seismic data, be able to select a line version number and see the processing flow applied -again to better keep track of the work flows: let's get rid of paper notes!!(Cap)
- Include the list of displayed horizons for each saved session (Norm)
- Colour table to be loaded automatically according to data type displayed for both seismic and maps
- Horizon files can be shared between multiple users
- External routine to convert Lat Long to different X,Y projection systems
- Provide well projections for crooked lines
- Provide a window option as a processing step
Interpretation
- Provide the option to display a grid surface as a horizon display on all seismic profiles.
- VSP -- Project Datum and replacement velocity. VSP's and tops cannot be shifted in time. All seismic tied to VSP's (Leon)
- Well log cross section display program. Ability to display cross section as an overlay on top of seismic display (Eric)
- Multi Attribute Display (Eric)
- Ability to combine two displays into one. This will enable the user to display both the near and far offset AVO sections.
- Cross plot a user selected window (avo anomaly) interactively
- 2 dimensional color palette so the user can combine a near and far offset stack
- Multi Attribute Extract at Well Locations. This will permit the cross plotting of a specific seismic attribute against a well parameter (eg porosity) (Eric)
- Display Well log curves as an overlay on top of the seismic display (Karin)
- Display Dip meter Data as an overlay along the well deviation profile (Eric)
- In mistie analysis needs the ability to apply the computed static shifts without processing the lines. (Hillar)
- In the horizons-stratigraphic amplitude analysis section, save last flow parameters so when after mapping, being able to make little adjustments to previous flow -this would reduce waste of time writing down parameters over and over again when just refining parameters needed(Cap)
- Allow interpreter to select an horizon in 'horizon output' and to see the flow parameters as well as the line versions selected to create such horizon -this would allow us to better keep track of previous work and avoid redundancy (Cap)
- Depth conversion of a seismic line profile according to the Time Depth functions on a line. This would give the Geologist the ability to have a seismic back drop to a cross section in depth
- Paint brush functions for 3D interpretation
- Cross Sections
- Permit a "fake" 3D to be created to control where seismic picks are made and for proper depth conversion
- Network Drainage analysis
- Ability to flip display from an inline, crossline right to inline, crossline left
- Displayed horizons can be dashed or dotted as another display attribute
- Transparent color fill can be specified between horizons
Mapping -- Hardcopy
- Provide opacity controls to the color scale. This facility would be useful for transparent color filled grids. Interpreted horizons could be seen beneath color filled grids.
- Ability to plot Seismic lines navigation as different cultures layer without loading the data.
- Utility to convert Latitude Longitude into various X,Y projections
- Better controls on culture line editing: Need clearer difference between adding and moving points (Hillar)
- Add controls for adjusting SP labeling size and increment on hardcopy output of seismic sections. (Hillar)
- Need more contouring controls in Time-Depth, don't like the extrapolation (Hillar)
- Permit the user to specify an order to build up the Base Map, this is especially important for the control of Polygons
- Permit polygons to be either transparent or opaque. User can select order of polygons
- User control for the number of decimal points and for the font thickness
- User specified 2D line display order. This option would permit the user to be able to use the slider bar to advance through a sequence of seismic lines. This would be particularily useful for data sets on a regular grid (offshore)
- Ability to plot horizon amplitudes on lines with displayed synthetic or merged lines.
Un-Official Bug Reports
- SeisX will not update the navigation correctly from a separate SEGP file when a seismic line is defined by only two points. Problem due to be fixed in release 3.5 (August 9, 1999)
Un-Official Work Arounds
- Increase the number of points to define a seismic line
